A little about Lens On Life

My name is Paul Rice and together with my wife Ewa (Eve) we are Lens On Life Photographic Expressions.  As photographers we try to make our images different and less traditional.  If you are looking for pictures of mom and dad lined up pretty in the background with the kids arranged tallest to shortest in front – we’re not the photographers you need.  (Well some would say you DO need us!!)  We try to mix it up and keep it interesting and edgy.  Myself, I prefer a portrait that truly captures a person’s life or character – a mechanic in greasy overalls, or a farmer surveying his crop – rather than another shot of everybody hosed down, cleaned up, and in their Sunday best.  (Now everyone turn your head and smile!)  I have pictures of my kids and I have pictures of my dogs (waay too many of the dogs), but my favourites are the ones of the kids interacting with the dogs – playing with them, running with them, dressing them up (Kim!), maybe even being bitten by them (Kim again!!!).  The pictures that are a true reflection of life, not someone else’s idea of how it should look.  That’s probably why I’m drawn to photojournalists’ work – I love to browse their portfolios.  The photographers don’t take both warring factions and line them up for one big group shot before the battle – they grab the moments as they go by.  That’s what I want to do with my camera.  Let me photograph your war!! (That didn’t come out right but you know what I mean!)
